Thirst for Knowledge - 11/4/12

Time for a little Thirst for Knowledge.  There have been 5 SCG Standard Opens and 5 different decks have won those events.  Now, this isn't the whole story.  There are some decks that continue to show up in high numbers early on as this format continues to evolve.  There have been 1846 players at these events and these were all the Top 16 decks from those events:

See what decks have showed up in the Top 16 for the first 5 weeks.  Jund Midrange has showed up the most with 14 copies.  Reanimation strategies have had 8 copies (4 Frites, 4 Junk) and GW Aggro has had 8 copies (mostly the Human Aggro), Bant Control has had 7 copies and so has RWU Midrange builds.  These should be apart of your test Gauntlet currently.

Zombies showed up early in the format but have since fallen out of favor currently in favor of other aggro decks (like WU and WG).  I think this is mostly due to fact that it has been currently hated so much that players are either afraid to play the deck or just end up doing poorly with it.

Players should be designing their decks with the Top 4 decks in mind but also realize that they will see some of the other decks when they play in events.  Those decks have a lot of overlap, so look for those advantages.
